Dino Hunters uses a layered dinosaur release model on Roblox. New species are added in three ways: regional biome expansions, volcanic variants of existing species, and Ancient-tier raid bosses. Each release wave is tuned to a specific hunter level band, so progression through the game's roster mirrors the biome tier unlock curve. This article is the canonical list of every dinosaur species that has shipped since launch, plus the species Fishgig Game has confirmed for upcoming builds.
Release Tier Framework
| Release Tier | Hunter Level Band | Spawn Pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 1–10 | Common species, abundant |
| Mid-game | 10–25 | Uncommon species, biome-locked |
| Late-game | 25–45 | Rare/Legendary species, fixed spawns |
| Endgame | 45+ | Apex species, condition-locked |
| Raid | 50+ | Ancient species, 4-player prep |
Species Released in Build v1.2.0 (Volcano Expansion)
Build v1.2.0 added five species to the Volcano biome and one raid-tier Ancient. Each release is a regional biome expansion rather than a balance update on existing species.
| Species | Tier | Spawn Zone | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tyrannosaurus Rex | Apex | Caldera Rim | Sig of Volcano, eruption cycle only |
| Giganotosaurus | Apex | Southern Basalt Field | Larger than T-Rex, slower turn rate |
| Spinosaurus (volcanic variant) | Legendary | Riverside Lava Flats | +20% fire damage on bite |
| Carnotaurus | Rare | Northern approach | Charge-type dino |
| Indominus Rex | Ancient | Caldera Floor | Raid-only spawn, 4-player prep |
The volcanic Spinosaurus variant is the first subspecies addition in the game. Mechanically, it has a fire-damage bite modifier on top of the standard Spinosaurus kit, which makes it the most lethal single-target Legendary in the active game. For a full combat walkthrough, see the Volcano Biome Guide.
Species Released in Build v1.1.0 (Snow Mountain Expansion)
Build v1.1.0 added the Snow Mountain biome and its signature roster. The expansion was the largest single-patch species release before v1.2.0.
| Species | Tier | Spawn Zone | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Allosaurus | Legendary | Central Ridge | Signature Snow Mountain dino |
| Therizinosaurus | Legendary | Eastern Cliff Sanctuary | Daylight rotation only |
| Iguanodon | Rare | Plateau Basin | Tank-style combat profile |
| Troodon | Rare | Blizzard Caves | Pack of 3, nocturnal only |
| Utahraptor (Snow variant) | Rare | Pack zones | Treetop ambush pattern |
Species Released in Build v1.0.0 (Jungle + Desert)
The launch patch anchored on the Forest, Desert, and Jungle biomes. The roster below covers the species that remained in the active game as of Build v1.2.0.
| Species | Tier | Spawn Zone | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Psittacosaurus | Common | Forest | Starter target |
| Compsognathus | Common | Forest | Pack prey |
| Hypsilophodon | Common | Forest | Solo Common |
| Ankylosaurus | Uncommon | Desert | Signature Desert armored dino |
| Triceratops | Uncommon | Desert | Charge profile |
| Moschops | Common | Desert | Mudflat filler |
| Velociraptor | Uncommon | Jungle | Pack hunter |
| Dilophosaurus | Uncommon | Jungle | Venom stack |
| Gallimimus | Common | Jungle | Fleeing prey |
| Parasaur | Common | Jungle | Crest detection |
Confirmed Species for Build v1.3.0 (August 2026)
Fishgig Game has confirmed the following additions for the August 2026 patch:
| Species | Tier | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Spinosaurus (Apex variant) | Apex | Replaces volcanic variant with full Apex tier kit |
| Coelophysis | Common | Forest pack prey, replaces Compsognathus pop |
| Carnotaurus (Apex variant) | Apex | Locked to the Volcano Caldera Rim |
| Dreadnoughtus | Ancient | New raid boss, requires 4-player prep |
The Dreadnoughtus is the second Ancient-tier raid boss. It is larger than the Indominus Rex and uses a tail-sweep AoE attack that hits a 12-stud radius. Fishgig Game has hinted that the Dreadnoughtus is the first raid boss that requires the Volcano Trader heat sigil chain for both entrances, not just one.
Confirmed Species for Build v1.4.0 (Q4 2026)
The Q4 2026 patch is targeted for October 2026 with the following roster additions:
| Species | Tier | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tarbosaurus | Apex | Apex-tier variant, biome-locked to the Desert |
| Therizinosaurus (Ancient variant) | Ancient | New raid-tier upgrade |
| Baryonyx | Legendary | Riverside spawn, replaces Spinosaurus volcanic variant |
The Tarbosaurus is the first species that was originally leaked by the Fandom community wiki before the official announcement. Fishgig Game confirmed the leak in the official Roblox Community Group post on June 14, 2026.
Migration Impact for Existing Dino Teams
Hunters who built their team before Build v1.2.0 should consider these transitions:
| Tier | Pre-v1.2.0 Best Pick | Post-v1.2.0 Best Pick | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apex carry | T-Rex Alpha (raid) | T-Rex Apex (signature) | Old Alpha redundant |
| Legendary tank | Therizinosaurus | Spinosaurus volcanic | Fire damage on bite |
| Common filler | Psittacosaurus | Coelophysis (v1.3.0) | New pack density bonus |

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fishgig Game release species only at major builds? No. Fishgig Game ships minor species additions in the small hotfix patches between major builds. The full new roster appears in the major build, but some additions slip in via hotfix.
Will the Allosaurus Legendary get an Ancient variant? Yes. The Therizinosaurus Ancient variant was confirmed for Build v1.4.0, and the Allosaurus Ancient variant is on the same roadmap timeline.
Are subspecies (volcanic Spinosaurus) permanent? Subspecies persist across builds unless Fishgig Game replaces them with a full tier upgrade. The volcanic Spinosaurus will be replaced by the Apex variant in Build v1.3.0.
